I completely agree, they only care about money. A complete disregard for the animals. I took my lab retriever because my vet told me they were specialists and they could take care of him. Before even treating the pet they give an estimate that shows the low and high of the cost of treatment and they ask you to sign a document in which they say the bill could exceed the highest by 10%. They make sure you end up paying a bill which is exactly 10% above the highest estimate. To do that they add many items not included in the estimate and since you signed already due to the hurry that you want to see you pet taken care of, they make sure you will pay that amount. Only for the weekend the bill exceeded $1,000 and the estimate for the diagnostic was $2,000. At that moment I rejected any dealing with them because I imagine that I will need at least $5,000 to take care of my pet.
I took my Pet to the Miami Veterinary Specicalists and I had to fork up $1200 up front without even knowing what was wrong with my pet. The company doesn't explain that during the day they are one company and at night they are another company. When I took my pet there at night the vet in charge was the ruddest woman i have ever meet, she did not listen to anything i said even though i explained that my pet had been here before and had been seen my the day vet. i told her that the day vet was well aware of my pet's situation and if she looked in my pet's file she could see what was usually done to my pet. My pet died the next morning because they failed to listen to us and instead of drainning my pet's lungs they gave her a tranquilizer that killed her. Even though my pet was only there for eight hours they charged me the full amount of three days and never refunded my money.
They do not care about the well being of your pet nor do they value you as a client. They only care about making sure that your credit card goes through when you step foot in the door. They also failed to give me all my pet's documents, they lied to my face, and when i called to talk to the vet i was told he would be available from 3 to 6. I arrived at 3 and sat there waiting patiently, at around 4 i asked them to see the vet after waiting for so long and i was told the vet had left. ( he left through the back door)
Another friend of mine took her 18 year old pet there and was told that her pet needed surgery i am not vet but i am pretty sure that if your pet is 18 years old the chances of it making it through a surgery at that age or slim to none, however they do not care about the pets only the money. My friend ended up paying over $5000 in bills for the pet (including post op) I advice everyone do not take your pet there they are the worst, incompassionate, and careless facility i have ever seen.
I had to take my labrador who is 10 years old here on an emergency. He was lethargic and all the other symptoms that go along with an emergency. I was charged $1274.40 for an overnight stay, from 11PM to 10AM the following morning. Their fees are outrageous!! and the whole place is terribly overrated. I was contacted that morning at 9AM and told that the dog had to be transferred for further work-up to the day clinic. The day clinic wanted in excess of $2600.00 for observation services for two days to later diagnose the problem. When I told them I was taking Sunny elsewhere they wanted to charge me 1/2 a day of services and this was at 10AM in the morning!! Luckily, I stood my ground and asked to speak with management and at that point they canceled those charges. I still had not spoken with any Vet to let me know what was the problem. They then talked me into an ultrasound (the dog had an abdominal mass) at the cost of $265.00 more that what I had already been charged!! An x-ray had already been done during the night which showed the mass, however, they felt compelled by money to insist Sunny needed fan extra ultrasound. Note: the two days of observation were to tell me Sunny would need surgery, what I was told after the ultrasound. A scam to get your money. They do not care about these animals you could tell by their actions. I am infuriated by this place. Oh and if your dog needs surgery they will tell you they are the only ones that could do emergency surgery, this is a lie.
I tried countless times to contact someone, issued a dispute with my credit card and nothing was resolved. Their administration lacks professionalism and compassion. While I was there a poor sucker had to pay $8000.00 for surgery for their little dog.
I went to Knowles the same day and they performed surgery on Sunny at half the cost of the two day observation period and Sunny is doing very, very well. Take your dog to Knowles Animal Clinic they are open 24 hours and are much more considerate.
