A national not-for-profit membership organization seeks an exceptional individual to provide communications and educational programming support for a small fast-paced office. Great learning opportunity for those with a career path in the not-for-profit field!
This position is responsible for coordinating communications activities, meetings and events, and for providing administrative support as needed to further the organization’s mission, goals and visibility in a measurable way.
The position works closely with staff, consultants, board of directors and volunteers to ensure accuracy, consistency and appropriate messaging in all communications and in the planning of meetings and events and provides guidance and support to volunteer committees.
Key duties include:
Plan, organize and coordinate the national education programs, working with staff and volunteer committees, providing or coordinating all logistical support for each program throughout the country.
Assist in the planning and coordination of the Annual Education Conference, (400 people) working in concert with staff and the volunteer Conference Committee.
Provide administrative support to the Board of Directors and to standing and ad hoc committees as requested, including scheduling and planning of meetings, preparation of meeting materials and meeting minutes.
Develop and maintain Website by gathering and developing content so that it is accurate and ensure that current and critical links are functioning. Evaluate similar websites and recommend ways to enhance the Website or to increase its efficiency and effectiveness.
Assist in the coordination quarterly publication working with the Editorial Committee and aiding the Executive Editor as needed.
Coordinate the copy, production, and printing of invitations, newsletters, programs, and brochures.
Maintain the timeliness and accuracy of Government Relations and Advocacy activities through the Website and other communication vehicles.
Assist in the preparation of grants and funding proposals and requests and performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Individual must be accurate, dependable, and well-organized and have excellent time management skills. Must be able to travel. Must be personable and possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be a fast learner. Must be a good writer with a command of the English language. A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel is required as well as experience in special event and/or meeting planning as well as other aspects of public relations. Experience with a nonprofit is a plus. College degree and at least three years related experience in office setting with skills as described above.
