JOB DESCRIPTION

PAYROLL TITLE: MAINTENANCE/HOUSEKEEPER

FUNCTIONAL TITLE: MAINTENANCE/HOUSEKEEPER



Under the supervision of the Nutrition Specialist the Maintenance/Housekeeper.



A. PROVIDES AND MAINTAIN A SAFE REPAIR FREE FACILITY FOR CHILDREN, STAFF, PARENTS, AND VISITORS. MUST WEAR A UTILITY BACK SUPPORT AND MUST BE IN PLACE WHEN LIFTING.



1, Duties includes, but are not limited to the following:



a. Repair all bathroom fixtures as necessary.



b. Repair and maintain all equipment at the Coconut Grove, South Miami, and Infant/Toddler Center.



c. Repair and replace all broken windows as needed.



d. Repair doors when not functioning properly.



e. Replace classroom carpets as needed.



f. Repair and maintain classroom furniture at all times.



g. Repair and change light fixtures for needed replacements at all Centers.



h. Repair and change blinds at all three Centers.



i. Repair and replace tile as needed at all three Centers.



j. Repair or change all door locks as need at all three Centers.



k. Repair air conditioning units as needed at all three Centers.



l. Repair and check outlets and ensure safety caps are in place at all times.



m. Repair maintenance/cleaning equipment as needed.



n. Attend to and/or report anything at St. Alban’s facilities that need repair or attention to the Center Director.



o. Drain and clean the freezer line once a month at the Coconut Grove and South Miami Centers.



p. Clean or change air-conditioning filters once a month at all facilities.



q. Clean the air conditioning vents and grills once a month, at all facilities.



r. Clean and maintain in a neat manner the laundry room, storage closets and the resource room.



s. Clean outside in the front and all around the facility. Clear all bottles, ants or other debris from the area and ensure the playgrounds are free of hazardous, unsafe materials and complete the playground checklist.



t. Keep the front entrance, Director’s carpet, hall carpet and tile, inside and outside, clean at all times.



u. Clean all bathrooms three times a day and whenever is needed.



v. Collect trash from all waste containers, wash, container and line with plastic bags.



w. Place and maintain, paper towels and bathroom tissues in all bathrooms at all times.



x. Ensure all soap dispensers are checked daily, and replaced as needed.



y. Keep tools, liquid cleaning supplies, poisons, and toxic materials out of the reach of children.



z. Clean windows once a month at the Coconut Grove Center.



aa. Clean the kitchen filters once a week.



bb. Clean the sewer outside the building once a month or as needed.



cc. Clean window blinds and sill every two weeks.



dd. Clean all sinks, mirrors, walls, tile fixtures and disinfect toilet bowls.



ee. Clean the air conditioning vents and grills once a month, at all facilities.



ff. Clean the kitchen filter once a week.



gg. Keep update transportation requirement and help classroom staff to practice and complete bus ride checklist.



hh. Ensure all air conditioning filters are cleaned or changed once a month at all facilities.



ii. Monitor all classrooms and remove food or spills from the floor immediately.



jj. Clean and maintain in a neat manner the laundry room, storage closets and the resource room.



kk. Check outlets and ensure safety caps are in place at all times.



ll. Clean windows once a month at Coconut Grove Center.



mm. Clean French Doors daily.



nn. Check light fixtures for needed replacements at all Centers.



c. Clean washer and dryer once a week at Coconut Grove Center.



d. Clean lunchroom daily, or as needed. Clean microwave and refrigerator in lunchroom once a week.



e. Attend to and/or report anything at St. Alban’s facilities that need repair or attention to the Center Director with a quote of the cost.



f. Keep liquid cleaning supplies, poisons, and toxic materials out of the reach of children.



g. Attend trainings, workshops and other educational institutions to enhance knowledge and skills and performs other duties as assigned.



h. Other duties as assigned.



B. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS



Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment typically used in janitorial work



Knowledge of the mechanical working of facility systems



Ability to respond to emergency situation in a timely manner



Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions



Ability to make minor repairs at Centers and on cleaning equipment



Ability to make repairs at Centers and on cleaning equipment



Ability to work efficiently and effectively in completing assignments in order of highest priority



Ability to have sufficient physical strength to perform a variety of routine delivery and custodial tasks in the care and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment



C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written directives.
